It's true that there are actually that many good quality rapiers on the market at the moment that it can be hard sorting out which ones is the best buy. At first glance, they all appear to be pretty similar in terms of their overall quality, and many people just choose based on what appeals to their own aesthetics, and there is nothing wrong with that! But it's human nature to want to know if there is one sword that is better than the others, a real standout..

If you are just talking about price, the Solingen at $133 is clearly a good buy and a very solid 4 star sword. But in terms of sheer value for money, it is impossible to go past the Taza Cup Hilt Rapier, pictured below.

The blade is pretty similar (in fact, almost identical) to the Solingen, but the extra money is clearly spent on the fittings and solid assembly.
