Ordered an item, charged $10 s/h. One week goes by without item or email. When asked, their reply is 'We don't notify customers of out of stock items, they are back ordered and will ship 4-6 weeks later'. OK, I'd like to cancel the order. Their reply 'You've been refunded, minus $25 admin fee'. Amber is CS supervisor at this scam camp who said 'Didn't you read the fine print?'

SO, NO ITEM, AND $25 LIGHTER BY PLACING AN ORDER AT A STORE WITH EMPTY SHELVES.

At least you recieved some of your money back i cannot get a refund for a sword they had listed for sale that was not even availible thier phone number is a joke they wont answer it direct to voicemail try it yourself before you buy they will not answer you by thier email either i looked up thier address with google maps its a house listed as a church check it out in short if u want to make a donation purchase something from realarmorofgod

I have been a customor of By The Sword for years and have had no problems. They have been around for 13 years and have a letter grade A from the BBB. Their address is not a church. They do answer the phone and live chat very well. Customer service is the best I have seen in years. The only days they are NOT there are Saturdays and Sunday. The phone will go to voice mail on those days only. The close at 5 PM EST. just like it states on the web site.

Horrible experience with BTS

My experience with By The Sword was similar to the OP. Live chat customer service was the best way to contact them. I have been screwing around with these guys for 3 weeks. If I do not get a shipping confirmation for items they verified as in stock within 72 hours I will file a complaint with the BBB.

Great experience

For once I'd like to post a positive experience with this vendor. Shipping could have been quicker, but at least the website posts a 14 business day timeframe for domestic US shipments, and my sword arrived well within that time. The price of my Bamboo Mat katana was excellent, as Hanwei's forge had a fire last month, I'm happy I got a sword at all in less than 6 months. If this vendor are thieves, they must have stolen this sword from Dalian, China right before the forge went up in flames and passed the steal on to me. Thanks.

Terrible Service

Ordered some boots from them and received no communication at all. The 14 days came and went and nothing arrived. When I hounded them about it I finally got a simple "they are on back order" No ETA, no apology, nothing. Yet their site let me order something that was out of stock.

Their communication is terrible and customer service is vile. Do not order from them you may never receive the items you ordered.

I ordered an off the shelf mail hauberk I liked from By the Sword in November 2010. It arrived on time and was exactly as described. However it didn't fit (due to middle age spread, I am forced to admit). You need a return code to return an item to this store, and when I phoned them the next day about the problem the woman I spoke with was sympathetic and issued the code with no hassles of any kind. I suggested substituting an alternative hauberk custom built in different sizes. They warned me that the three month wait the manufacturer suggested was often more like five months, and they were right. But it came through as they said it would, and it fits great. So I'm a satisfied customer. I have heard their service has improved in recent years from what it was when they first started. I can’t complain.
I really appreciate the Sword Buyers Guide, and your positive review helped me decide to buy a Hanwei William Marshall sword. I purchased it as a walk in customer at Warriors and Wonders in Vancouver, BC, Canada, and have been quite happy with the sword. I'm a satisfied customer with Warriors and Wonders as well.
