Chinese Wushu Swords by Sheng Guang Long

QUESTION: I was reading your website about chinese swords and about the qualities behind them and the cost. I was particularly looking at two different chinese swords both made my the same maker, Shen Guang Long. Now, I don't know anything about him but when I was doing a little research, apparently his swords is something like the *standard* of weapon competition of wushu. In any case, my only concern for these swords are that they are really inexpensive. The two swords are here and here. If you can shed any information to me about these swords, or the maker I'd really appreciate it.

ANSWER: Hi Lam,

I haven't handled those particular swords, but a few weeks ago I got one of the $59 Sheng Guang Long Chinese Broad Swords from Trueswords and have to say, that for the money these really are nicely constructed and very FUN pieces.

Of course, I am not a Wushu Practitioner - but that said - they do feel nicely balanced and great for practicing my own 'made up on the spot Wushu'! ;-)

As they are not cutters, and indeed appear to be the standard used in official Wushu circles, I have every confidence in the brand based on my own experiences so far.

However, the full review will be coming on SBG soon, so stay tuned!

Hope this helps.

- Paul
