Dynasty Forge or Hanwei Practical series
by Naoki Ajikata
Considering one of the Hanwei Practical series or Dynasty Forge which has some at $299 here. But I have not seen reviews about Dyansty Forge.... What is your opinion? Hanwei or Dynasty? or look for another one at Cheness?? ANSWER: Dynasty make some very nice mid to high range Katana, but their low end blades really don't compare to something like the Cheness Kaze... The Kaze is my first choice for a traditionally made Japanese sword - better than the Hanwei Practical Series, though their Practical Plus Elite and XL series actually handle more like a Nihonto than any other sword in this price point (and are much sharper, though prone to chipping if the target is too hard). Personally, I would probably go with either a Kaze or a Practical Plus Elite/XL depending on what you like. These really are the crowing glory Katana in the $300 price bracket... Hope this helps. - Paul
