Egypitan sword hiding place.....

QUESTION: First of all thank you, your site was easy to read and find. In particular I am looking for a sword that would have been used in the temple of Sekhmet. If you have any inforation on that I would greatly appreciate it.

ANSWER: Hi Alicia,

Find good quality replicas of Egyptian swords is no easy task - and most of the so called 'Egyptian Swords' for sale are about as Egyptian as my left foot (which, for the record, is not Egyptian at all)...

My understanding is that the Egyptians at Sekhmets temple actually used long daggers, though depending on the period they may have also used the kind of Khopesh seen in my brief overview of Egyptian Swords.

I wish I could help more, but alas, sword manufacturers have not yet cottoned on to the fact that there is a growing interest and demand for Egyptian replicas...
