hanwei and windlass german bastard sword discrepancy

QUESTION: The hanwei german bastard sword is 50 inches and 2.9 lbs. the windlass german bastard sword is 39 inches and 3.10 lbs. whats with this? Is the windlass a thicker and better sword? Which sword is better? Please e-mail with all feedback. Thanks.

ANSWER: Hi Edward,

You have pretty much hit the nail on the head. The Hanwei bastard sword is quite long and thin, while the Windlass German Bastard sword is much stouter and thicker.

There have been some problems with the pommel of the Hanwei version that I believe Hanwei are working on. So for the time being, I would have to recommend the Windlass version. It is very tough and the tempering is excellent.

I hope this helps a bit.
