Hanwei Hand and a Half Sword of Albrecht II

by Alex Quitzau

QUESTION: Hi, I live in Australia and I wrote previously about this sword, I've been having net trouble so wasn't sure if you got my first queries. I am seriously considering buying the Hanwei Hand and a Half Sword (seen here for confirmation).

I was curious about two things, firstly if the scabbard is wood covered in leather or just leather.

And secondly as to its handling characteristics, because I haven't been able to find a good review giving specific details of its balance, cutting/thrusting ability etc.

Thanks
Alex

ANSWER: Hi Alex,

I am 99% sure it is wood covered in leather. As to the second question, there are some reviews of this sword in the SBG Sword Forum. I believe the handling is quite good and this sword is overall one of Hanwei's best European blades. But if you want more info, it might be a good idea to post your question in the forum. JP Franco is a member there and he would definitely be able to give you further first hand accounts of it.

Hope this helps.
