Opinion on Valiant Armoury Swords
by Justin
The site says that it is high carbon steel and that their swords are "battle ready" with a full tang. I bought the Crecy Short sword and it looks like it is pretty descent, but I am new to the whole sword hobby and am afraid of shattering it. I did some research before I purchased the sword, but I wish I had found your site sooner! Thanks for your help, Justin ANSWER: Hi Justin, I haven't yet personally tested any of their swords - but there are a few reviews of the old models on SBG. That said, I have a few of their newer ones coming to try out - and the difference just looking at them is night and day... The old Valiant Armoury swords, which were made primarily for distribution by CAS Iberia - had a reputation for being somewhat clunky and nothing pretty to look at. The NEW Valiant Armoury swords are looking a lot more attractive. And they have some projects in the works with Angus Trim and Christian Fletcher designed blades that seem set to revolutionize the whole industry...! Anyway, I am digressing here slightly - but yes, the old models are on the whole very durable and quite similar to Generation 2's earlier models (both are made in the Phillipines). But they are definitely the company to watch in late 2007/early 2008... - Paul |
