Basically I only use an oil to lubricate knives with blades that move,e.g. pocket knife or switchblade. To protect the blade "steel" or the handle "Stag horn or wood" I use johnson's paste wax or Carnauba Car Wax, it protects against fingerprints and moisture and is available at Lowes or home depot.
