The LAW!

QUESTION: Where can I find out about laws about swords?

ANSWER: Its actually kind of tricky, as it varies so much from country to country and state to state.

Personally, trawling through the various forums, searching google and visiting your states police websites should turn up something. It can be tricky as there is no real central definitive resource. At least, not yet...

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Kind Regards,

- Paul

In the US, the best way to find out about laws pertaining to swords is 1)call your District Attorney's office, and ask to speak to an intern. He or She can tell you pretty much anything you want to know. However, in most states there are actually very few laws regarding swords, other than katanas and sword canes. In most cases swords fall under general laws such as "concealed weapon" or "possession of an inlegal weapon" etc.
And 2)go to you local library. If you treat them nicely, the librarians can make you copies of all the laws wich may pertain to and include swords (there shouldn't be more than 1 or 2 pages). But be advised: many towns have city ordanences which differ from state laws. check these out too.
