The next step up

QUESTION: I know I am not allowed to ask this question but do you know of a sword that is say.. the next step up from the Tenchi or the Kaze with a top budget of $400 - specifically a sharp, well balanced and nice fast sword

Yup - you are right, this question is not allowed... ;-)

But seriously, I haven't found a significant difference between the sub US$300 Katana and $400 ones - the next significant jump starts to occur at around the US$700+ mark...

Personally, I think you would find the Musashi Swords Wind Katana and the others of its ilk to fit your requirements. There are quite a few of these now at around the $150 mark - and they are excellent swords for someone looking for something fast and light.

Otherwise, you'll need to double your budget...
